open door for the homeless and needy in Reading

"CIRDIC's comfortable and friendly atmosphere attracts and supports people with whom we need to meet and build relationships so that they can benefit from our service...an excellent partnership and one that helps us to make the best use of our resources."

This is a quote from the StMungo's Reading Services Team, one of the thirteen teams who regularly visit CIRDIC and bring their professional skills to CIRDIC in order to help some of the most vulnerable people in our community. Other organisations include Baker Street Nurses, Nquire and the DIAS and Floating Support teams who seek to help people with drug and alcohol problems

.

CIRDIC offers a truly open door and free service

A personal testimony: I am grateful that our paths crossed as the Drop-In was my first step in the recovery I have been enabled to have...in being led to the life I have today I have taken many steps that I could not have managed on my own, and the first one was accepting the food, warmth, shelter, and guidance that was offered to me at CIRDIC."

Opening Times

We are open:

  • Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays 10am – 3:30pm, and Saturdays from 6pm – 7pm for all our usual services.
  • Wednesday and Thursday mornings 10am – 12am for our Midweek Club.
  • Sunday mornings 9am – 10am for quiet time, and our guests spiritual needs.

The Midweek Club, provides opportunities for those of our guests who are ready to take steps to improve their lifestyles. So far we have held sessions on budgeting, cookery, job-seeking and schemes of maintenance of Centre - watch out for the improvement in our gardens! We are constantly seeking to involve our guests in the running of CIRDIC so that a significant proportion of the man hours it takes to run the Centre is now worked by people who originally came for help.
